Pick or build the storyteller AI that runs your adventures
Every adventure on Reality Fabricator is run by a narrative engine: the storyteller AI that paces scenes, plays the characters and referees your choices. Different engines have different pacing, tone and game-mastering styles, so the same scenario can play out as a tight thriller or a slow character study depending on which one you pick. The Narrative Engines page is where you browse them.
Sort by trending, popularity, newest or token cost, or show only your own. Filter to engines that cost nothing to play, engines that keep memory through a writable lorebook slot, or engines with a public grade from the Testing Lab, and choose a story length to match. A semantic search finds engines by what they do rather than what they are called, and a model comparison page helps you understand the models behind them.
You can also author your own. Engines are user-editable pass pipelines, with a model and a prompt for each pass. They can declare lorebook slots, world guides the story reads from and a Story Memory book it writes durable facts into as you play. Mid-game steering comes from a per-story author's note and an account-wide player persona that tells every story who you want to play as.

Frequently asked questions
What is a narrative engine?
The storyteller AI behind an adventure. It paces scenes, plays characters and referees your choices. Different engines have different pacing, tone and game-mastering styles, and you choose which one runs each story.
Can I make my own engine?
Yes. Engines are user-editable pass pipelines. Each pass has its own model and prompt, and an engine can declare lorebook slots for world guides and a Story Memory book.
Are any engines free to play?
Yes. The free filter shows only engines where every pass runs on a free model, so playing them costs nothing in tokens. The other engines show their token cost so you can sort by it.
What does the graded filter mean?
It shows engines with a public grade from the Testing Lab, the site's Narrative Engine Grader. A story length setting of short or long picks which grade is shown.
How does an engine remember my story?
Through a writable lorebook slot. Engines that declare one write durable facts into a Story Memory book as you play, and the memory filter lists only those engines.
