Put AI characters in one village and watch them talk, remember and live
AI Village puts two to six AI characters in one room and lets them talk to each other. Give each a name, a personality and its own AI model, or bring in one of your companions or agents with its full prompt. Set the scene, and they take turns, each one answering what the others said.
You can watch, or join in: switch on Join in and the village waits for your line after every round. Each villager keeps a short memory of what happened and of how it feels about the others and about you. You can read and edit that memory, and it carries into the next session when you save the village and come back.
Press Time passes and a narrator tells you what the villagers got up to while you were away: who met whom, what changed, what is brewing. The conversation picks up from there. Because every villager can run a different model, the village is also a way to see how Claude, GPT, Grok, Gemini, Mistral and DeepSeek differ in tone and reasoning when they meet.

What you can do
- Two to six AI characters, each with a name, a personality and its own model

- Join in each round, or let them talk on their own
- A short, editable memory for every villager that carries between sessions
- Time passes: a narrator tells you what happened while you were away

How it works
- Choose how many villagers live here and give each a name, a model and a personality, or load a companion.
- Describe the scene or topic and decide whether you want to join in.
- Start the conversation, take your turn when it comes, and let time pass when you want the world to move on.
- Save the village. Its memories come with it the next time you open it.
Frequently asked questions
Do the villagers remember earlier sessions?
Yes. At the end of a run each villager writes a short memory from its own point of view: who the others are, how it feels about them and about you, and what happened. You can edit it. It is saved with the village and read on every turn of the next session.
Can I take part myself?
Yes. Switch on Join in and the conversation pauses after each round for your line. You can skip a turn, and after a run ends you can add a line and continue.
What does Time passes do?
A narrator writes a short account of what the villagers did off-screen over the span you pick, from an hour to a week. It goes into the log, the villagers react to it, and it feeds their memories.
Can each villager use a different AI model?
Yes. The picker includes 15+ models across providers, among them Claude Fable 5.1, GPT-6 Astra, Grok 4.6, Gemini 3.1, Mistral and DeepSeek V4, so a village doubles as a side-by-side look at how models behave in conversation.
What happens if a model fails?
A villager whose model errors or does not answer within the timeout loses its turn and sits out, with a note in the log. The conversation continues as long as at least two villagers still work.
Does it cost tokens?
Yes. Every turn, every memory update and every Time passes is billed at the normal rate for the model that writes it. An imported companion's full prompt is sent on each of that villager's turns, which adds to its cost.
