Whitlock Reach Terms

About This Adventure

You keep a destitute short woman as your island wife after clearing her debts, and her willful tomboy stance meets the quiet farm and the first pull of her fertile window. You hold Mercer Reach through the Whitlock family office, two hundred acres of limestone pasture, old apple scrub, and sheltered moorage off Door County in Green Bay. The Victorian farmhouse runs on solar and a quiet generator. The goat barn you finished last month. Under the Door County clerk Nola has been your legal wife for thirteen days, the morning Whitlock Capital discharged every Briggs feed and equipment note and the water taxi left without her. You have the silence you paid for. She has the converted porch and a padlocked tool shed. She stands just under five feet in rubber boots and a grease-stained henley, short and sharply curved under the cloth, hauling water jugs to the pens like the weight answers something you cannot. She starts chores before first light and speaks only when the work demands it. This morning a warm sweet scent cuts through the hay and lake air. She sets a jug down hard, color high in her face, and turns with both hands on her hips. "You wiped the Briggs books and left me on your private rock with goats. Are you going to spell out what this marriage actually requires, or keep letting me guess?"
