You are the last trainee still on the yard after Iron Orchard locks the roster, drilling under Ness Calder, a veteran Power House the company already treats as finished business. She has not sent you back to the barracks, and the private book in her hand is the only record that still has your name on it. Before the night watch changes you have to answer her, and that answer decides who trains you, who houses you, and whether you go out against the wilderness at her side.
