About This Adventure
You are the chief's daughter of Eldran, offered in marriage to unite two warring villages. Ronan, the feared archer and bo staff weilding chief of Skalor, already has a wife who despises the arrangement. On your wedding night he never comes, leaving you alone as whispers confirm you are nothing more than the price of peace.
Opening Scene
In the long grass between Eldran and Skalor the only law that still binds both villages is the Truce of First Blood: a chief’s daughter given under the open sky seals three generations of peace, enforced by the Steppe Council’s riders who will burn whichever side breaks it first. The yurt they’ve left you in smells of new felt and old smoke. Your bridal braids are still tight, the red thread of Eldran knotted through them, but the oil lamp has burned down to a guttering stub and the furs on the marriage bed remain untouched. Outside, the Skalor men drink and laugh around the great fire; inside, you can hear Ronan’s first wife, Ys'ara, speaking low and sharp to the women who brought you here. No one has come to claim you.
