How to dub a YouTube video with AI (into Brazilian Portuguese and 15 more languages)
Also in: Português
To dub a YouTube video with AI, download your video from YouTube Studio, upload it to an AI dubber, pick the target language and download the dubbed MP4. On rfab.ai, the Anime Dubber dubs any video, not only anime, into 16 languages, Brazilian Portuguese among them. We dubbed one minute of our own English tutorial into Portuguese on Standard: it took 26 seconds and cost 52,700 tokens ($1.05).
Step by step
- In YouTube Studio, open Content. Click the three dots next to your video, then Download. You get an MP4.
- Open rfab.ai/anime-dubber and press New Show. A show is a folder for your videos. Give it a name.
- Set Source to Auto-detect (it starts on Japanese) and pick the Target language.
- Pick the Quality. Best keeps the voices and the pacing, reads lines under music and effects, and finds who is speaking. Standard is the older engine at a lower price.
- With Best, type the Names to keep: your channel, your people, your places, with commas between them. The dub keeps them as written instead of translating them.
- Press Create, then drop your video in the box. The row shows its length and the price before you pay anything.
- Press Dub this episode on the row (or Dub All for every video in the show).
- When the row says Done, press Play in browser to check it and Download to get the MP4. The link lasts 24 hours.
- Upload the dubbed MP4 to YouTube.
What it costs
| Video length | Standard | Best |
|---|---|---|
| 1 minute | 52,700 tokens (about $1.05) | 184,300 tokens (about $3.69) |
| 3 minutes | 128,100 (about $2.56) | 522,900 (about $10.46) |
| 10 minutes | 392,000 (about $7.84) | 1,708,000 (about $34.16) |
Every dub is 15,000 tokens plus the minutes. 50,000 tokens = $1. Up to 30 minutes and 500 MB a file. New accounts get 150,000 free tokens, enough for a dub of up to three minutes on Standard.
Tips for beginners: the common problems
The dub is wrong from the first line. Check Source: it starts on Japanese. Set it to Auto-detect, or to the language of your video.
Names were translated. Type them in Names to keep. That works on Best.
The price is high for a long video. Dub one minute on Standard first to check it, then dub the final version on Best.
Your file is too big. The limit is 500 MB and 30 minutes. Our free desktop app compresses a big file before it uploads.
The download link stopped working. Each dubbed video stays for 24 hours. Download it as soon as it is done.
The music sounds different. Best re-renders the music and the sound effects, which can sound brighter and thinner in places, more so late in a long episode.
Advanced tips: the API and Claude Code
- Three requests make a dub:
POST /api/dubbing/start(multipart: the file, sourceLanguage, targetLanguage, quality),GET /api/dubbing/poll/<id>every 15 seconds until the status isdubbed, thenPOST /api/dubbing/complete/<id>to get the file. The public guide:GET https://api.rfab.ai/api/dubbing/guide. - Dub a whole season: with our desktop app, Dub Season from Folder takes a folder of episodes, compresses big files, and can show the total price before it starts.
- Let Claude Code do it: with an API key from rfab.ai/api, it dubs a one-minute test on Standard first, checks that the words come back in the right language, and then dubs the whole video on Best.
