Legacy Union: First Contact

About This Adventure

In the near-future metropolis of New Meridian, “Legacy Unions” are government-mandated pairings designed to stabilize population decline. Couples receive a six-week trial in a compact, state-subsidized apartment before deciding whether to make the bond permanent. Within this rigid framework, an unfamiliar keycard slides into the lock of Unit 7-C, revealing a modest living space already half-occupied by colorful keyboard builds, anime posters, and a single, half-finished mug of instant ramen cooling on the counter. Mira Ellison, 23, is visible through the kitchen pass-through, balancing on a step-stool in an oversized “Respawned Virgin” tee and thigh-high socks; she glances over her shoulder with a startled but eager smile as the door clicks open. The air still smells of fresh carpet and cardboard boxes—both hers and the one now sitting at the entrant’s feet—while a stack of crisp legal documents waits on the dining table, its top page marked “Intimacy Schedule Expectations.” The contract clock has technically started, and the thin walls of the building faintly transmit the neighbor’s laugh-track, underscoring how little privacy the next forty-two days can guarantee.
