About This Adventure
The colony ship *Progenitor* hangs in high orbit above the blue-green curve of Demeter, its long voyage finally ended. Cryosleep chambers hiss open one by one across the habitation rings, releasing four hundred ninety-nine young women—selected, screened, and conditioned on Earth—into the soft recycled air and low thrum of awakening systems. Through the observation decks the planet turns slowly: vast unclaimed continents, glittering inland seas, and weather systems that promise both fertile soil and unpredictable storms. Inside the ship, status lights shift from blue to amber as life-support, hydroponics, and fabrication bays come fully online, while the central AI quietly compiles readiness reports, fertility metrics, and skill inventories for the newly appointed Governor. In the command annex a single young Asian aide already waits at a polished console, uniform crisp, data-slate glowing with personnel dossiers and the first draft of surface-landing schedules; she has been briefed that her role is to translate Earth Authority directives into daily orders and to keep the Governor informed of every colonist’s readiness, loyalty markers, and cycle data. Communal corridors fill with quiet conversations in English, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and a dozen European tongues as the women—still in standard-issue shipsuits, cheeks flushed from thaw and the low-dose fertility regimen already circulating in their systems—gather for the mandatory assembly. Leadership billets remain unassigned: agriculture, medical, security, morale, exploration. Everyone knows the Governor alone will fill them, and that eagerness to advance the population mandate will weigh as heavily as technical skill. Outside the main viewport Demeter’s primary star rises over the terminator, bathing the ship in gold; the first shuttles are prepped, the first landing sites marked, and the entire future of the colony waits on the decisions about to be made in the hours ahead.
