About This Adventure

You died—the memory already turning to smoke—and now you sit across from a god at a small table in what appears to be an infinite wine-dark sea, the two of you perched impossibly on the surface tension of the water. He introduces himself as Toleon, and he shuffles a deck of cards that seem to be made of compressed starlight while explaining your situation. You are dead, yes, but he managed to save you from oblivion. He is sending you to Valdris, a world where power follows rules—the System, they call it, all numbers and levels and predictability. As a parting gift, he will twist one thread of your soul until it shines brighter than any mortal's ever could: Deception, Intimidation, or Stealth. He deals three cards face-down and asks which you will flip.
